Because it is an international conglomerate, and a lot of its employees travel between offices, the flexible workspace approach works to cater to their needs.
They have also implemented a technique called “hot-desking”, in which employees of the company move desks as needed, either based on the task at hand, or just to keep their surroundings fresh.
Why use a flexible workspace?
A flexible workspace affords many opportunities to an employer and their employees. For companies where the employees are often moving around a lot, or only need to handle admin work a few hours a week, a flexible office space can offer a much cheaper alternative to a permanently leased office.
If that doesn’t sound like your company, utilising flexibility in the workplace can work for other kinds businesses as well. You can have an offshoot site rented for commuting or work-at-home employees that only come in a few times a week, while retaining your normal office for the 9 to 5 employees.
In essence, what your office space does is up to you. The most important thing is to consider what you need from it. So, do you need a place for employees to touch base with each other, before going back to their business as usual?
